Almost nobody imagines that in the Gulf of Gaeta have been dumped even artificial radionuclides such as plutonium 239, cesium 137 and cobalt 60 by the nuclear plant of Garigliano.
The proof of the hecatombs are contained in some scientific studies, like the research by A. Brondi, O. Ferretti, e C. Papucci entitled “Influence of geomorphic factrs in the distribution of radionuclides. An example: From the Mount Circeo to the Volturn”( Proceedings of the Conference of Italian-French radiation protection. Florence, May 30 - June 1, 1983) and that by R. Delfanti e C. Papucci “Distribution of 239 Pu, 240Pu e del 137Cs in the sediments of the Gulf of Gaeta: observations on the mechanisms of accumulation and the sedimentation rate”(ENEA – Pas). On the increase in radioactivity in the marine sediments of the Gulf of Gaeta wrote also in August 4, 1984 the Italian National Institute of Health, but without taking any steps to protect the unsuspecting population:«For a variety of reasons described in considerable detail in the technical literature, were produced accumulation of cobalt and cesium, dumped in the river Garigliano in the Gulf of Gaeta. This is undoubtedly linked to the settlement of the plant».
In
the first document we find the quote
on pollution from cesium 137, "the activities of Cesium137 in the
first two centimeters of the
seabed in front of the Gulf of Gaeta, in the areas of higher
concentration, corresponding to 7millicurie/kmq
(259MBq/kmq). "
In
the second report says pollution
from plutonium:
"The attached figure shows the inventory of 239,
240 Pu in the
sediments, which decrease with
increasing bathymetry (...). Inventories are particularly
high (2 to 4 times the depositions from fallout, amounting to 81 Bq / m at this latitude), were detected in the area between 30
and 50m depth.
Sooner
or later we must come to terms with
this disaster seriously underway, led by Enel
and tolerated by
the Italian government. Welcome back to the Garigliano nuclear power plant on the shore of
the Tyrrhenian Sea. An installation
of the property, indeed
of Enel, located between Naples and Rome, and not yet restored, 36 years after
the deactivation of the reactor.

That is, if geography is not a mere opinion , from the promontory of Circeo up to the island of Ischia.

Plutonium does not exist in nature: it is a highly toxic substance from the chemical point of view, it is dangerously high radiotoxic and of military-strategic importance . The radioactivity of plutonium is halved after 24,000 years and it remains dangerous for over 400 thousand years. According to the Italian National Institute of Health . " 0.25 millionths of a gram are the maximum allowable load of plutonium throughout the life of a worker occupationally exposed ." As little as a few micrograms of plutonium concentrated in the conditioning of a skyscraper are enough to condemn to death all those who are inside. "

damage from radiation
is a infinite damage. Even the smallest
doses of radiation trigger the processes of mutagenesis and tumor
diseases so much so that the
definition of the maximum permissible dose provided by the International Commission on
Radiological Protection, instead of
being "that particular dose
below which there is no risk," is instead that dose which is associated with somatic effects, cancer and leukemia,
which are considered acceptable in the
face of the economic benefits associated
with these activities or radiation. "
The marine biologist Rachel Carson has thus argued in the essay THE SEA AROUND US.:
